In 1970, the Carlisle team adopted a new crest, a running fox (the club was known at the time as “The Foxes”, after the connection with Cumbria’s most famous huntsman, John Peel).
This appeared in gold between 1970 and 1981, after which it was rendered in red and white against a blue background.
